Tanka
CondeHouse
Tanka is a shelving system designed around proportion and restraint, conceived as a good host for the personal things one chooses to keep close. The modular structure allows for configurations ranging from low horizontal compositions to full room-height arrangements.
The shelf's form draws from the hardcover book. Each shelf board is edged on all four sides in wood veneer, achieving an appearance close to solid wood. The front edge follows the sharp profile of a book's foredge, while the back recreates the curve of a book’s spine. Together they produce a quiet play of shadow across the piece's horizontal planes.
The vertical dividers are proportioned to recede once books and objects are placed against them, so the items on display take precedence.
